Group Study Exchange (GSE) Opportunity

Dear Rotarian:

District 7600 is seeking team members for the Group Study Exchange (GSE) team to visit District 4670 in Southern Brazil from March 30 to April 29, 2013. This is an incredible opportunity for a young professional to spend four weeks in District 4670 in Rio Grande de Sul on a cultural and vocational exchange funded by The Rotary Foundation.

The Rotary Foundation’s Group Study Exchange (GSE) program is a unique cultural and vocational exchange opportunity for business people and professionals between the ages of 25 and 40 who are in the early stages of their careers. The program provides travel grants for teams to exchange visits in paired areas of different countries. For four weeks, team members experience the host country’s culture and institutions, observe how their vocations are practiced abroad, develop personal and professional relationships, and exchange ideas. Expenses for transportation and hotel are paid for by Rotary International or the host district—team member expenses are passport related, medical insurance, excess baggage fees, and incidental purchases while on the trip. The team will stay in Brazilian Rotarian homes while with the program.

We are looking for potential team members between the ages of 25 – 40 and who have been in their current employment for at least two years, are non-Rotarians (and not directly related to a Rotarian), of good health, and would benefit from this once in a lifetime cultural and vocational experience. Applications are currently being accepted through December 31, 2012. Time is of the essence to nominate a team member.

Maybe you know of an exceptional teacher in a public or private school. Many schools will permit teachers, especially Science or Biology teachers to make such a trip, as it adds to their skillset and makes them better performers in the classroom. Why not talk to members of your school Board, or even to the Principal for a recommended individual? Also consider who you know that might benefit from such a trip.

Or, think about a family friend, neighbor, employee, business associate, or church member who may beinterested in this opportunity. It’s your money that supports The Rotary Foundation, and this is an opportunity to make a life changing event occur with a friend, young professional, colleague or employee that you might recommend.

Individuals interested in applying for the team can obtain information from the Rotary website at including an application. The team member application and other documents can be downloaded from the Group Study Exchange page on the Rotary website.

Submission of the application either electronically or by mail should be sent to me by December 31. Please feel free to call or email me if you have any questions. My contact information is provided below.

Yours in Rotary Service,

Robert M Stallworth Jr.
